twitter_128Judging by the amount of audience questions we weren’t able to get to, we’ll have to have Amy Vernon and Alessandra Lariu back to talk to us again about expanding speaking opportunities as soon as possible. After a slow start due to technology issues, we engaged in quite a bit of thought-provoking conversations. If you weren’t there, here’s are some highlights of what you missed at our most recent Twitter chat.

The first example was a little bit of a “you had to be there” type of moment, but here’s the short version.

We invited Allesandra, because the company she co-founded, SheSays, created a tool to help conferences find accomplished women speakers for events.

When Ale told us the name of the SheSays widget it created quite an uproar, and has become an inside joke among the attendees.

We may have to do a whole separate post with video for how to use the widget and why you should share it on your sidebar in the meantime, give the SheSays Find a Token Woman widget a try. The name may be a joke, but the mission is serious: a list of crowd-vetted women speakers.

Amy Vernon was also extremely helpful, as usual when she joins us for Twitter chats.

Here’s her most popular tweet, as part of her response to the question “Why do you think it’s important for the people we see speaking at biz & tech conferences to be representative of the audience? “.
